Today we are doing nothing. We wake up at 6am to the sound of a goat strapped to the back of the motorcycle screaming its lungs out. We manage to sleep to 8:30am. The budget is real today - but luckily breakfast is included. We both have a full english breakfast and then scavenge quite a few plates of food and plungers of coffee that guests have left unfinished.
We whip out the laptops; Jordan does some studying, I write and we remain like this for quite a few hours. Jordan switches to reading Mountain Shadow. We swim. This is nice. We need a rest.
The day is almost over. We’re on deck chairs reading and writing and Jordan asks me to make dinner plans. I tell her that I just have a few questions for her to help me make my decision: “In a fight between Beyoncé and J-Lo, who would win? And why?” We both think that Jenny from the block would be win, but maybe Beyoncé’s bootie might be a wildcard.
That key question helps us decide to take a walk to Black Pepper; a little restaurant down the road. And if it’s expensive we’ll pick up some things from a shop and fill ourselves with Futurelife.
Never mind. We find ourselves at the Zatu community kitchen sharing a Kampango and nsima, playing backgammon and having a cute chat. We both win one game, 1 - 1 is the Malawian backgammon championship.
We return home, watch two episodes of Community on Jordan’s phone and fall asleep.
