We’re off at 7am and we head over to the upper Millstone for Kathy’s breakfast birthday breakfast and have a delicious three cheese croissant. It’a a cute time and we’re back by eight for Bruce and Kathy’s meetings.
I fiddle around packing for a bit after that waiting for my bank card to arrive. At nine they call and say that it hasn’t left joburg and that it would be very convenient if I were in joburg it myself and with that I’m off a quick coffee at ground and probably what is to be an expensive refill of Ralph and then a little road trip to Jozi Jordan.
The drive is pleasant. The refuel of diesel is painful. I listen to a 80000 hours podcast and am aware of some tinkling diesel noises in the engine that I’ll continue monitoring. Frik calls and we’re on for the Drakensberg mission this weekend - super exciting.
I make it to the little church for a scone that Jordan has requested that I collect. I am going to get one myself.
I’ve been thinking about resting Shantaram again, but a little on the fence about it. As I walk into the coffee shop there is a second hand book stand and one cover catches my eye. I take it as a sign to read it.
I sit down next to a cat enjoying the sun and do some reading of Red Dog.
The drive is easy. The spaces open and wide. The colors brown and amber.
I finally arrive in joburg and the traffic is chaotic. A truck slammed on breaks near me and skids a bit. People drive stupidly fast; weaving through traffic.
I arrive at Jordan’s house and coming into the garage, moments before seeing Jordan I hear a crunch and slam on breaks. I know that Angelic or her fin has hit the roof of the parking garage. I choose to rather properly greet Jordan and then assess the damage.
It’s lovely to see her again and she’s looking like a beautiful princess. We embrace and share a hug and a kiss.
True to Pavlov's surfboard, which was both broken and not broken. When we finally check the damage in the house it’s perfectly fine. Well done Leo - you handled your reactions to this situation so well.
Me and Jordan take a walk to Zoolake. We talk about maybe giving the Schengen area a miss and rather just do a motorbike tour through turkey and maybe Albania. This feels really good.
We manage to upload all the documents required for the UK visa application - a victory!
Nikita joins us for a delicious leftover dinner and we make a decadent hot chocolate. we lock in to watch “the good place” which is brilliant. I have an anxious moment before bed and it’s wonderful to watch is simply flow away like water.
