Barrydale

The Klein Karoo feels different to how I remember it. No longer suffocating, desolate and dead. No longer the absence of an ocean. The calm, yet vibrant stillness is intoxicating. I can’t keep my eyes off the horizon.

Negative space is the key to appreciation here: three trees standing in an isolated cluster increase their presence and accentuate their features. Something that my younger self could never grasp when coming from the abundant coast.

One thing has remained the same within me throughout these years - this is the best landscape for throwing rocks at said lonely trees.
