Erin made us coffee in bed. Ouma rusk was a necessity.
We went slowly and managed to get out the house in an hour. Bruce was set to collect Erin and take her back to Hilton.
We met at Nice cafe; Jordan’s local.
I had the Benedict basket. Basically eggs Benedict but the toast was made in a muffin container, turning it into a little basket.
Says farewell to Erin and Bruce.
Went to buy a pre rolled joint at a dispensary.
Honestly got a bit too high on the balcony with J.
Went down to wonder around the garden. Discovered this beautiful little shared library that her apartment block has. A collection of books shared amongst all residents. I wondered who pioneered this idea? An old person who loved books?
Jordan pulled out Sea Leopard. The title caught her eye. She asked me to read the back cover; nuclear submarines, naval warfare, arctic oceans, global tension and espionage… did someone say “Thee body problem” of the ocean - sign is up.
Fiddled around in the garden.
Went back up to the couch to read Sea Leopard out loud:
reading was tough going, but we powered through a few pages.
Jordan discovered the art of screenshotting small elements of a photo, see the results above.
Kate, Nikita and Tamara came home and we hung out on the balcony.
Tamara was working through the weekend for a deadline, I really felt for her and knew the position. I really wanted to have a chat to her about it but alas! I was too high. I think I gave her a solid piece of advice when she was thinking about calling her PM and calling it quits and I told her to really just give it her best for 10 minutes, if things go well then continue or if not then call it done. Have no regrets. “No ragrets”
We watched some Archer on the sleeper couch.
Jumped in the car to get some of Jordan’s childhood Chinese takeouts just down the road but the car didn’t start. We decided that would be a tomorrow problem and walked.
There was a person living on the side of the road who yelled a lot when we were walking towards him. He yelled “kuk man” as we passed. Stories of why I should be nervous walking the streets of joburg we’re definitely front of mind. After collecting the food from a great hole in the wall shop, I opted for us to walk on the opposite side of the street. Upon passing him he was yelling “fok man bokke” “vang hom!” Me and Jordan shared a bit laugh over this. Do not judge a book by its cover Leo xx
Next up is My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli. An absolutely beautiful film that I had the joy of introducing Jordan to.
At the end of the evening there was an empty popcorn bowl. Tex chocolate wrapper. A nut butter sachet and two lovers intertwined in a single bed.
